Mirissa harbour is the largest fishing port on Sri Lanka's south coast, landing tuna, snapper and mullet. It is also where whale watching boats leave from for blue whales, sperm whales and spinner dolphins. Boats run reliably from November to April, with the best blue whale odds from December to March.
