Kirinda Raja Maha Viharaya sits on a granite boulder above the fishing village of Kirinda, about 10 km south of Tissa. Legend says Queen Viharamahadevi came ashore here, and a statue of her stands by the temple. Steps lead to a small stupa with wide views over the coast towards Yala.

The sea at Kirinda is rough, enjoy the view but do not swim. Cover shoulders and knees at the shrine.
