The Kinniya Bridge crosses the bay to Kinniya, a Tamil-speaking Muslim fishing town about 20 km south of Trincomalee. It is one of the longest bridges in Sri Lanka. Kinniya is around 96% Muslim, and a drive across the bridge to the Grand Masjid, the fish landings and the town's biryani shops is the easiest way to see Muslim life on the east coast.
