Dutch Bay Beach is Trincomalee's town beach, about 1 km of sand on the bay below Fort Frederick, next to the Maritime and Naval History Museum. Fishing boats are pulled up on the beach, and local families come down in the evenings, especially at weekends. In April the Koneswaram boat festival carries the temple deities by sea from Back Bay to Dutch Bay.

Tips

Come for an evening walk rather than a swim; Uppuveli and Marble Beach have clearer water. Dress modestly, as this is a local family beach.
