national park · Yala · 170km from Colombo
Bundala National Park is a coastal wetland west of Tissamaharama and Sri Lanka's first Ramsar site. Around 200 bird species have been recorded, and in the northern winter large flocks of greater flamingos feed in its salt lagoons. Elephants and crocodiles live here too, and it is far quieter than Yala.
